Correspondent, KOKRAJHAR, Feb 9: Different food
items with ethnic flavours displayed in the
Food Festival organized on the occasion of 4th
Bodo National Festival held at Alaikhungri in
Chirang district recieved all praises from the
visitora of different places and region.
The ethnic food items were in great demand
and outsmart the general dishes in the festival
venue. There were ethnic food huts set up by
different communities such as Bodo, Dimasa,
Sonowal, Mising, Deuri, Hazong, Garo, Bhutanese
and Tengals, served local food to visitors.
The visitors thronged the food festival to take
the experience of local flavour. The roasted
pork, locally produced beverage and steamed
rice wrapped in leaves could dominate other
items.
A Dimasa woman, Roymata Hafilla displayed as
many as 12 food items of their community and
narrated how to prepare and cook them. She said
the roasted pork, bamboo shoot with crushed
rice and pickle make from fruits with different
flavours were in high demand.
Meanwhile, Purnima Kalita of Sonowal Kachari
ethnic dish hut said there are over 14 food
items in their community. She said the local
made beverage kept for three to six months or
the year, steamed rice and wrapped in the leave
were demanded by the visitors. On the other
hand, the Ondla with chicken, Narji with pork
and Napam of the Bodos are the most special
items which received huge demand.
