Madhabdev awards presented

 

GUWAHATI, May 6 – Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today formally presented the Madhabdev awards for the years 2007 and 2008 to Sonaram Chutia and Rong Bong Terang in a function held at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. The award, which consists of cash award of Rs one lakh, a citation and a “seleng chadar”, has been instituted jointly by voluntary organization Sadishya and Narayanpur-Bihpuria Press club.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the State Government would extend all possible help to make the award presentation a permanent fixture and suggested that the award function should be held in New Delhi. He said that the Government has been extending necessary help for the setting up of Madhabdev Kalakshetra in Bihpuria in Lakhimpur district. He also said that the State Government would take measures for instituting a chair in memory of Madhabdev in the Tezpur Central University.

The function was also addressed by the Asam Sahitya Sabha president Kanaksen Deka, Water Resources Minister Bharat Chandra Narah and the recipients of the awards. Noted singers Khagen and Archana Mahanta performed a borgeet in the function.

This is ridiculous. All foodstuffs are getting unaffordable... except for poisonous mushroom.
